Well at first the war started with Tobi who called himself Madara against all villages. But then Kabuto came and entered the fight on the side of Madara and actually only his Edo Tensei was giving hard time on the alliance. So I was thinking how the heck Madara expected to win against the alliance himself even the real Madara was edo tenseid from Kabuto.

His trump card was the white zetsu's ability to record chakra. This was meant to force Naruto out and then he personally would capture him and bee with the help of his pain paths and statue. He could care less if he won the war since his soldiers were just to buy time until naruto was found. Also, he could utilize Sasuke to help him during the war. Although, I do agree, not the best plan and he probably would have been defeated.

tobi can beat anyone in that anime but madara *cough* obito anyone. Even Madara if he really wanted to he can suck them all up in his sharingan using space which he controlls

At that time he was Madara for everyone so that's why I call him like that.

Thanks for the answers but he never would have beated them Naruto and Bee and he actually battled them and lost it was Madara who saved the day

Tobi trolled the entire Shinobi World into pointless war. He just wanted to get a hold of Naruto and Bee when the time was right. He could've succeeded without Madara, he was trained by him, has a pretty big chakra pool and has the Rinnegan which he controlled the Tailed Beasts with. If it weren't for Naruto's Plot No Jutsu getting Kakashi and Guy on his side aswell as the Four Tails then Tobi would have won the war by now.

At the Kage summit, it was just Tobi, Kisame, Zetsu, and I guess you can count Sasuke and his goons still working together. Kabuto approached Tobi after the summit after Tobi's inexplicable defeat of Konan. Kabuto offer military strength in exchange for Sasuke.

As someone mentioned, Tobi was going to depend on Zetsu to flush Naruto and Bee out. Zetsu being a spy would have taken out more than the Edo Shinobis if it wasn't for Naruto. Once Naruto would have came out of hiding, I think Tobi would have summoned the 10 tail statue, if possible even it was incomplete. That thing alone can take out thousands. Tobi would have then slipped in and grabbed Naruto during the bout, once weaken ofcourse, and put the 9 tails chakara into the beast. He possibly would have Rinne Tensei Madara if that jerk Kabuto didn't already bring him back.

That was Tobi's plan. Kabuto screwed it up and force Tobi's identity to be revealed.

Thats a good point. I guess he completely underestimated the power of the Shinobi Forces. He probably didnt expect Naruto to gain this new form either though, that made a huge difference on everything

Yup it's a nice way too see the things but actually even with the Edo Tensei everything went excactly as this plan reveals. With Zetsu Naruto came out and Tobi battled him but the biggest problem for Naruto Bee was not Obito but the othe jinchurikis which I think were brought by Kabuto again. So Obito alone would have stood a chance against Naruto and Bee ( but not vs Naruto in his new form but he wouldn't have gotten it if not the fight with the othe beasts). Yes the Statue woul have taken the less powerful shinobis after all we saw what it did in the fight but Chouji and the rest but as you saw all powerfull shinobis survived.

So in my opinion it was just plot no jutsu from the start there is no way Obito would have taken Naruto and Bee without the Edo tensei army of Kabuto
