Name: Fullmetal Alchemist
Author: Hiromu Arakawa (Stray Dog, Raiden 18, Souten no Koumori, Hero Tales, Demons of Shanghai)
Genre: Action, Adventure, Shounen

Summary:
The rules of alchemy state that to gain something, one must lose something of equal value. Alchemy is the process of taking apart and reconstructing an object into a different entity, with the rules of alchemy to govern this procedure. However, there exists an object that can bring any alchemist above these rules, the object known as the Philosopher's Stone. The young Edward Elric is a particularly talented alchemist who through an accident years back lost his younger brother Alphonse and one of his legs. Sacrificing one of his arms as well, he used alchemy to bind his brother's soul to a suit of armor. This lead to the beginning of their journey to restore their bodies, in search for the legendary Philosopher's Stone.

One of the best shounen mangas I have ever read. Great mix of action, comedy and mystery. Great drawings and captivating storyline. Manga will soon end, the final battle is about to commence.

I'm currently watching it on a Portuguese TV Channel and it's off the hook (Y). I don't want to read its manga because I love the surprise factor. :cool

I predict that there will be...5 more chapters, probably, that might be too long because the "Brotherhood" anime will have to go filler mode and if not they'll create a different ending which will suck.
Maybe we are made to serve as distraction.

I think 2 or maybe even 3 more chapters and it's over.

So to someone's that read AND watched it, Which one's better? Brotherhood or the Manga? Does brotherhood stick with manga material? Or does it just depend on if I wanna watch the manga or read the anime. (Not a typo.)

Brotherhood seems quite nice actually. I didn't read the manga yet, but I was certainly thinking about that.

So, are the plots really the same?

Brotherhood follows manga quite closely and it's a well made anime. I am kind of guy that likes manga more than anime but I would suggest both, reading FMA manga and watching FMA:B anime.

One thing of note about FMA: Brotherhood is that it rushes the beginning since the people who made it probably figure people watching Brotherhood have seen the first FMA anime( which follows the manga plot for a little while and then splits off into its own different story) and don't want to watch the exact same episodes they've already seen.

I really enjoy this series. It does seem like it's going to end in the next 5 chapters. My guess would be maybe 2-4 chapters.

Well, im all caught up with the manga. FMA is absolutely fantastic! I will most likely watch Brotherhood, since I hear that is the anime that follows the manga.

So does the other FMA just have its own story?

chapter 104 was just released and it was one of the most EPIC manga chapters EVAR!!

seriously, it was so awesome i'm thinking of going to Japan to convince the author to release the next few chapters now xD

ok, my opinion:

Manga: great story and plot, with lots of action, comedy and twists that make you want more and more.

1st Anime: didn't follow the manga's original plot but was still nice since the characteristics and weaknesses of the villans were vrey well thought. plus, the movie is also good and concludes the story in a pretty nice way.

2nd Anime: no filler, except for the first episode of all. follows all of the manga's details which is really awesome. basically, if you like the manga, you'll love this anime, since i believe there has never been an anime that follows the respective manga so closely.

SO: my advice is that you watch both animes and read the mangas, in the following order:
1st) watch the 1st anime (the one that escapes from the manga plotline)
2nd) read the manga, each chapter is epic in its own way
3rd) watch the 2nd anime, you'll like it better once you know the real plot.

PS: yes, i believe the manga is due to finish in the next 3 to 5 chapters (which will take 3-5 months...) since the final battle is about to start. also, each chapter has around 40-50 pages.
