photoshop help

#1 k im trying to color some manga pics and having some trouble can any one give me some pointers on using the highlight ,shadow and midtone tool or should i just use a color of the shadows this is what i got so far it needs a little work still and is not the best one i have done so far needs to be resized i can use the tool a little bit but i is hard . hopefully someone can give me a few pointers -------------------->Sig by Me<--------------------character showcase in sig Good you fight like the soldier you once claimed to be - Rufus Shinra- FF7advent children
