Welcome to the King of the Mountain tournament, a "be all, end all" style tournament to finally settle who the best clans in Naruto-Arena truly are. Like the creme de la creme, the best of the best and other titles, King of the Mountain is a term often used to describe those a the top of their game. The quintessential..masters of their domain. Those without equal, at the peak of perfection. This tournament is designed to find out just who those clans are, and who fall victim to overconfidence, lack of ability or just plain aren't up to par yet. While luck is always going to be a factor, this tournament is designed to rid the final results of excuses as best as possible, and offer a clear picture as to who the top overall clans are.

As I'm certain most of you (at least those invited to the tournament) know that there are traditionally more than one single factor to judging a clan. While tournaments of the past have ultimately focused around in game skill alone, this is only a portion of the overall package. King of the Mountain, or K.T.M. was designed to fix this. It takes into account both the strength and style, leveling the playing fields, and helping to decided which clans are really a tried and true standard of greatness, and which up and comers are starting to make their mark in the grand scheme of things. While being unable to take into account certain qualities like loyalty of members, activeness and longevity, we will still do our best to try and declare a winner in the areas that are open for judging in order to determine the best clan currently existing in the naruto-arena universe.

14w7res.png

The tournament itself has been broken down into 9 individual segments, with each having been given a designated point value. The total points possible for any clan is 135, and in order to achieve this, you must sweep all 9 categories. The tournament has been set up to ensure that such a task should prove to be improbable, though not impossible.

The 9 categories you will be competing in are:

Strength
~Lone Wolf - a total of 25 points
~Dynamic Duos - a total of 25 points
~Team Warfare - a total of 50 points

Style
~Avatars- a total of 5 points
~Signatures- a total of 15 points
~Banners- a total of 20 points
~Gfx'ers Choice - a total of 10 points
~AMV - a total of 40 points
~Writeup - a total of 10 points

Below, each individual category will be explained more thoroughly, and my staff and I are available for any questions you may have. The basic concept is that, the more events you take, the more points you gain. The clan with the most overall points once everything is said and done will be declared the victor.

14w7res.png

This Tournament will take place with 8 clans or 16, depending on the response to this. Clans will be allowed to apply, though they will need to post an application form that you will find below. The longer your clan has existed, the better your chance of getting in.

Q: Do we need to participate in every event?
A: No, while you are more than welcome to participate in every single event, we're aware that some clans have limitations in certain areas and therefore, are not required to participate in each event that is run.

Q: I don't think the point scale is fair, is there anything that can be done about it?
A: While I understand that, the point system was designed to award points based on amount of effort required. If each clan had it's say, they would all pick what they were best at as the highest point categories. If the overwhelming majority of clans participating feel strongly about it though, I will make minor adjustments to keep things fair.

Q: What if my clan and another clan can't seem to get along and it effects matches?
A: If you have a real problem with another clan, you are free to send me a PM ahead of time and let me know the reasoning. I will then do my best to try and keep things flowing smoothly between the two clans so that less social interaction is required between you two. If both the clans cannot seem to overcome the differences for the sake of a simple game, I may be forced to disqualify the aggressors and let those who can keep their temper remain. If such things continue still, clans may be dismissed from the tournament all together.

Q: Who all is involved in this?
A: While the tournament was created by the leaders of Mostri (shocking, I know), it has grown to include help from several others including Cezar (creating gfx) Dice01 (sending invites and helping run tournaments), Raphiel2006 (helping send invites), Bsly1126 (creating account), Slavik-Sensei (sticky and cleanups), Silver_Razar (advice) and others. It's the hope of those in charge that once the final 16 are decided, every clan will have a representative and a voice in what goes on. That way, at the end of the day everyone is satisfied with the paths that this tournament took, though we understand if some clans are let down by the results.

Q: Is it possible to complete work ahead of time?
A: Yes, though we'd prefer you didn't as certain restrictions or stipulations are set in place at the start of each competition. If you create something, you may not add a required element or stay within the confines of the parameters put forth when a contest begins. Your best bet is to wait to learn what rules apply and then start creating.

The Lone wolf portion of this tournament will offer clan's a chance to send their leader to the battlefield to represent them. The chosen participant will be tasked with representing his or her clan, and showing the fighting spirit of a whole while separated from the pack.

The participants in this battle will fight traditional tournament style, 2/3 battles against representatives from other clans. Semi Finals will be 3/5 and finals will be a harrowing 4/7. Team restrictions will be applied at the start of the tournament, along with the match ups and time allotted for each round.

Failure to complete the round will result in double disqualifications, unless one participant has been deemed to have been too inactive to offer a fair chance at a fight, or ducked his opponent.

**NOTICE** Any player entering the Lone Wolf section of the tournament must be a leader of their clan. This does not mean squad captain. Leader names will be taken down upon invite as to ensure that quality players are not given leadership roles in hopes of scoring easy points here. Anyone participating in Lone Wolf will not be allowed to participate in Dynamic Duos.**NOTICE**

Dynamic Duos is a tag team style tournament that will best incorporate teamwork between partners. A 2 man cell can often be more effective than a 100 member battalion, and this is the chance for your clan's warriors to steal away much needed points while still getting the job done quickly and quietly.

The members who participate in this battle will fight traditional tag team tournament style, 2/3 battles against representatives from other clans. If the two sides win one a piece, they are then made to play a final match between the two winners. The winner's team advances to the next round, and the loser's team goes home. Semi Finals and finals will be 3/5. Team restrictions will be applied at the start of the tournament, along with the match ups and time allotted for each round.

If one of the members of a team fails to show up for battles in the allotted time, it will count as one loss for the team, and his partner must win the next 2 sets of battles. If both members fail to show, it's counted as a double disqualification and they are declared the losers.

**NOTICE** Any players entering the Dynamic Duo section of the tournament will not be allowed to enter/cannot have entered the Lone Wolf portion of this tournament. Alternates who are listed, but are not used are still free to participate in the Lone Wolf round.**NOTICE**

Team Warfare is the ultimate finish to the in game battles. Line up 7 of your best players, and charge the mountain to claim in game supremacy! Clans will be pit against each other in a large scale battle, 7 of their best warriors clashing with another 7 skilled combatants. The climb is steep, the battles are going to be long fought, but the payoff is immense, as this is the largest single point payoff available in the tournament.

The members who participate in this battle will fight traditional clan tournament style, 2/3 battles against representatives from other clans. Winners will be judged on the first to reach 4 wins, the clan with more wins at the end of the allotted time, or the clan deemed to be more active in participation. The winning team will advance and the losing team will go the hell home. Finals will be 3/5, and teams will battle it out for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Team restrictions will be applied at the start of the tournament, along with the match ups and time allotted for each round.

**NOTICE** Any players entering the Dynamic Duo or Lone Wolf section of the tournament will be allowed to enter the Team Effort portion of this tournament. **NOTICE**

Style

***NOTICE: ALL FORMS OF STYLE WILL BE JUDGED IN A SEPARATE THREAD THAT WILL BE POSTED UP AT THE END OF THE ALLOTTED TIME, OR WHEN ALL GFX HAVE BEEN SUBMITTED. IN EACH SECTION, THE ONLY GFX ALLOWED MUST BE COMPLETED BY CURRENT MEMBERS OF THE CLAN. ONLY THE VOTES THAT ARE POSTED (NO POLLS) WILL BE COUNTED, AND WHILE CLANS MAY VOTE FOR THEIR OWN PIECES, ALTERNATE ACCOUNT VOTING WILL NOT BE ALLOWED. IF YOU ARE FOUND TO BE VOTING WITH AN ALTERNATE ACCOUNT, YOU WILL BE DISQUALIFIED FROM THE PARTICULAR SECTION AND 25 POINTS WILL BE DEDUCTED FROM YOUR CURRENT SCORE.***

The most basic form of representing a clan, avatars can be a small canvass to convey unique styles or a large disaster for some inexperienced gfx'ers. The Avatar portion of this competition will give clans a chance to complete and submit 3 avatars with a specific symbol given beforehand.

Clans may have the same member complete all the avatars, or break it up over several different gfx'ers, as long as at the time of submission, we have received 3 avatars from each clan. Clans are free to choose whatever style they wish to, as long as it remains 75x75 pixels in size. The votes will then be totaled, and clans will receive placement depending on how many points they have received overall for their 3 submissions.

Seemingly as expansive in nature as the personalities that make them, signatures have become the ultimate in representing one's self and one's clan in the arena universe. With varying styles and contrasting theories in what makes a quality signature, clans will be allowed to submit up to 3 signatures, but are not required to do so. Clans may choose to submit the signatures with the random symbol that will be chosen at the start of this section, or may refrain from placing any symbol at all.

Clans may have the same member complete all the signatures, or break it up over several different gfx'ers, as long as at the time of submission, we have received up to 3 signatures from each clan. Clans are free to choose whatever style they wish to, as long as it remains no more than 400 x 200 pixels in size. The votes will then be totaled, and clans will receive placement depending on how many points they have received overall for their 3 submissions.

Often the most effective way of introducing your clan, symbol, theme and artistic abilities to the rest of the Naruto-Arena population. A seemingly simple piece of art, a banner's main objective is to catch the eye, and encourage any bystander to read further into the clan, whether for simple recognition or in an attempt to gain more members. Ranging in shape, style and size, banners are an integral part of any proper clan page and will, more often than not play a part in the failure or success of any new clan.

Clans will be allowed to submit one Banner for judgment using the name/symbol given at the beginning of this section. Each clan will do their best to convey their own personal style while incorporating the name and/or symbol that has been given to them. Clans are free to use any style of their choice, but may not exceed a 550 x 400 pixel size limit.

Gfx'ers choice is a fairly simple setup in which gfx'ers will be free to express themselves in any way. Whether it be in game background, sig, tag, xat background, wallpaper, animation etc. etc., this is the chance for a no holds barred free for all of artistic expression. While the more traditional forms of work are all well and good, true art cannot be confined to basic forms and this is your chance truly shine.

Clans may submit their top 3 pieces of artwork, and will not be asked to include anything other than their very best efforts. There are no size restrictions in this battle, but it is asked that any animations are kept to 80 frames or below. The votes will then be totaled, and clans will receive placement depending on how many points they have received overall for their 3 submissions.

-AMVs-

A newer form of clan expression, AMVs have become an elaborate method of creating art by combining both music and clips of popular anime/manga/created gfx together to create a seamless intro for clans. Capable of incredible depth and beauty, an AMV can represent themes and members in ways that are far easier to sit through than a clan history or bios.

Clans may submit up to 2 AMVs no longer than 6 minutes in length. These AMVs may consist of any subject matter, as long as it is not pornographic in nature. They may use any methods they wish in creating the final product, and will be responsible for the hosting of the amv. Any music is allowed, as is any anime that the creator is capable of gaining access to. Clan AMV should be based on clan theme and should contain at least name of the clan in it.
AMVs can be uploaded on http://www.yourube.com/ http://www.metacafe.com/ http://www.megavideo.com/ but you may upload it on http://www.megaupload.com/ or http://www.rapidshare.com/ so that judges/people will be able to watch and judge the video in its best quality.

Tourney will not accept:
AMV over 6min long, or less than 1.5minutes (90seconds).
AMV that will contain sexually defiant will be disqualified from the tourney and clan will get 0 points.

The votes will then be totaled, and clans will receive placement depending on how many points they have received overall for their 2 submissions.

One of the least appreciated forms of art, the writings in a clan can convey a multitude of things about them. Whether it's where they come from, where they are going or what they are all about, the text in clan thread can inspire confidence as quickly as it can destroy all faith. Not simply about explaining requirements or describing what a single member is like, a bit of text can be crafted into a beautiful piece of artwork when shaped by the right hands.

Clans will be allowed to submit one piece of writing that will be based around a topic that is given at the beginning of this section. Clans will be free to write in any language they wish, but will be asked to convert it to English once completed. If they need help cleaning up the writings, myself or a staff member will be happy to offer a hand doing so. Writings will need to be a minimum of 250 words, but limited to no more than 1000.

STATUS CENTER
Here is where you will able to keep up to date with point totals, events as they occur, and things of that nature. If you have any questions, feel free to post them and I will make sure to add information about these things as we go along.

August 18th
Everything is back on track and I apologize for the bit of a halt. Things got busy elsewhere and the tournament got put on the back burner for a bit. Everything is back in full swing again and the Second round of Dynamic Duos has begun as well as the Signature portion of the tournament. I've decided to link the exact pages below to make it easier to find them. The Banner portion of the tournament will be starting this week as well to make up for lost time. Those participating in the strength events, please make sure you contact your opponents to get these matches done. Also, a new clan has been added to the roster to take the place of GR which has shut down. Thank you all and I look forward to getting this all going smoothly again. Thank you.

July 28th
The Dynamic Duos contest has begun and can be found here

July 25th
Because of the removal of 2 clans from this tournament, the deadline for the Avatar competition has been pushed back 24 hours. Dynamic Duo is also starting later than expected (today), but such is the way some things must happen when ironing out the few wrinkles of a tournament. Please check the start and end dates of each tournament thread to know exactly when something begins and ends, as with the end of the month fast approaching I will not update this calendar until the start of next month. Thank you.

July 23rd
I apologize for the delay but the Lone Wolf competition has started here. Due to the delay, both LW and DD will be pushed back a day both in their start and end dates. Thank you.

July 19th
The avatar competition has begun. Please make sure to read through the thread found here

I can't take credit. I had help from several people in the clan so I just got to be the one to post it.

Thanks though Phur, and to the rest who have commented.
