Quote by thatonedude Quote by ZXUnion7 Quote by thatonedude I love how Sharky and Washu's only arguments so far has been, "no, you can't do that, you stupid fucking noob!" while not presenting any evidence, which is actually a joke Sharky said in his post in the SSB topic in his signature.
And tanking is not just absorbing damage, it's also puling aggro which is very, very possible in a fighting game. Also, like you said, Sheik is light, and easy to launch, but there are other characters who are heavy, and not as easy to launch. For example, Ganondorf or Bowser, they are both heavy and harder to launch than others, and thus, able to tank.
The game focuses on defeating your opponent, not simply absorbing damage. Being a tank in Brawl, if there is such a thing, is quite useless if you can't adequately counter your opponent's attacks and kill him/her. Bowser and Ganon have an extremely rough time with that against a fast-attacking character such as MK or Squirtle. I suggest avoiding using that strategy, as it works so much better in RPGs.
I find a balance between offense and defense is the best strategy in a fighting game, namely Brawl. Staying on the offensive when you clearly have the advantage is key to good kills, while trying to see through your opponent's attacks is cricial to gaining the offensive advantage.
Edit: Sharky was pretty damn good at Brawl. (I'm not sure if he plays it anymore) And I haven't faced Washu to know his Brawl potential.
I know it's useless in 1 vs. 1, I was talking about in team battles, where it can be a very useful strategy.
Although thank you for finally saying something other than "noob stfu!" and actually discussing this with evidence.
-Hmmmm none of us from the Brawl Topic (Now N-Subspace) play in team battles, and I have yet to get some balanced matchups for teams when I play Brawl with my friends around where I live. I guess, if you look from a team perspective, it's an OK strategy, but there are better alternatives.
-Everyone else from the Brawl Topic, I assume, are simply tired seeing how someone claims that one character can truly defeat everyone else, when Naru is in touch with the results of the official tournaments held 'round the world. We all know that Snake and MK are the most OP in the entire game, and everyone else is sorted behind them. Shiek, unfortunately, is near the bottom (a nerf from Melee) and suffers from predictability and overall weak attacks.
--Skitabug can brag all he/she wants about how great Shiek looks in front of CPUs, but when he/she gets over Wi-fi and Brawls some actual contenders, he'll/she'll see how inferior Shiek actually is this time around.
@Zure:Spoiler HE TAKES STEROIDS, DAMMIT!
