Aura was searching every room in the immense house that he was to be found in. Reise on the next floor was communicating to him with an old head-set they had stolen from an Arkadian caravan. As Aura searched on, he found himself standing in front of an old mirror. It had been a long time since Aura had gotten a proper look at himself, and he found that he was startled by his new appearance. Aura stood almost six feet tall, with long brown hair and dark green eyes. In a way he looked like most of the citizens in the Arkadian Empire, and yet he looked completely alien as well. Aura smiled to himself, a trait he always seemed to carry was his cheerfulness.
"If you dwell on all the sad things in life, you'll miss all the good things." Reise had once told him. Aura had taken these words to heart. Barely a second passed where Aura was not smiling or laughing. Reise never minded Aura's jolly nature, in fact he seemed to condone it. Reise had become the brother Aura had always wanted. Aura remembered the days when his parents were gone, and he was forced to dig through the trash to get a meal. Aura was hopeless for so long, but then Reise came. Reise was the picture that Aura had always wanted to be a part of, and yet was never able to obtain. Reise found Aura digging through a dumpster and took pity on him, it was there Reise asked him if he wanted to abandon the life he had known in the city of Corporus, and start a new life with him. Aura never forgot the scene of that moment: the snow falling on Reise's blonde hair, the light shining into his clear blue eyes, and the way he seemed to destroy all the shadows surrounding Aura. The years had come quickly after that moment, and Reise had come to mean something to Aura that he himself could not explain.
"Aura meet in the top floor, we have a probelm." said Reise's voice through the head-set.
Aura wasted no time, running as fast as he could. Within minutes he was on the top floor with Reise.
"Aura, Arkadian forces are coming here today. Unfortunately the General has decided to cut his vacation a bit short and return home to his treasures. Greedy Arkadian bastard couldn't stand to be away from them for a week." said Reise as he simultaneously took the Raddler from it's holster.
"But Reise, shouldn't we go then?" asked Aura, his voice always curiously thick with emotion. "I mean if there coming now."
"Yes obviously but we had-" Reise was cut short as the sound of leather boots against hard cement came towards them.
"Damn there here, Aura hurry let's get downstairs and out of here before they release we were even at this place." Reise said as he ran towards the door. They both sprinted down the staircase, racing against time's personnel agenda. They reached the second floor when the doors were thrown open.
"And you can tell my wife that she can meet me here, I'll send transportation myself." said a voice coming from the floor below.
"Aura back up, now." whispered Reise through clenched teeth. Aura tip-toed back up the stairs and hid inside an empty closet. Reise soon joined him, a finger to his lips telling Aura not to talk. Minutes dragged by, and soon the duo heard a shout from somewhere outside of there closet.
"Sir, there was a broken window and muddy footprints in the castle, Sir."
"What!? That's impossible, this house has state-of-the-art security, that would be ridiculous." but the General did not seem to convince himself. "Search the house, every inch of it, until you find these intruders."
Aura began to shake, was this how it would end for him? Crouched inside a closet, waiting to be found. Aura could not accept this as his destiny. Reise seemed to be thinking along the same lines, as he gave Aura the tiniest wink, and leaped from the closet - the Raddler in hand.
Gunshots echoed throughout the house, as Reise and Aura ran for the exit. It seemed that there were no exits inside the house, they ran and ran, but could not find a single escape route. Reise saw a group of soldiers and dived into the room beside him. It was a grand hall, for feasts and special occasions, a room only an Arkadian would think is needed. Even more spectacular yet, there was open door that headed out into the gardens. Reise and Aura ran faster then ever, desperate to escape. Just as Aura was out of the mansion, Reise tripped and fell - feet away from the door. Within seconds soldiers poured into the room, all of them taking aim at Reise.
"Steady now fool, who the hell do you think you are? Do you know this is an Arkadian's house?" said a soldier, practically dancing with joy at the helpless state of there captive. "Easy now vermin, you'll be taking a nice, long trip to the Devil's Cove." said another soldier.
Aura was seconds away from diving into the room, willing to sacrifice himself to save Reise. Yet as Reise stood, he smiled a fool's smile at Aura, loaded a grenade into one of the slots on the Raddler, and turned to face the soldiers.
"Listen up vermin, drop the weapon and put your hands on your head - and maybe we won't turn you into a human pincushion." snarled another soldier. But Reise just smiled, and with one last look at Aura fired the grenade towards the soldiers. The soldiers open-fired as the grenade landed in there midst, unnoticed and unrecognized. Reise fell backwards, and Aura ran inside to catch him. As Reise landed in the hands of Aura, the grenade exploded sending the majority of the soldiers into the walls and ceiling. Aura began to cry in ernest, then felt a dull thud against the back of his head and faded into black, the Raddler in his hands.
Grimm was thrown back as pure energy was rushed into his body, paralyzing him and chilling his very bones. Core smiled, pleased he had Grimm in such a hopeless position.
"Don't you see now Grimm, Arkadia is a weak pillar, standing in the way of the strong. If you could only hear Kayyn talk about the new Arkadia, maybe you would not find our cause so unappealing." Core stated, a sadistic smile danced upon his lips. Grimm was done, his life over. He knew what would happen. As Core raised his sword to strike the final blow, a new voice emerged.
"General Core, step away from Grimm. He is now under the custody of the King's personnal guard. We will escort him to the Cove." A soldier in the king's guard stated. They were scared, but firm and determined.
Core looked at Grimm with a sick longing, contemplating the consequences of what would happen.
"Of course Captain, I was only trying to stop the traitor from escaping. He is yours now." said Core, playing a fake smile, and with that he stepped away from the dsigraced ex-General. In a whisper Grimm heard his voice echoing the words of his dreams "Your time is done Grimm, Arkadia cannot win this war."
Core was right, and Grimm knew it. As tears slide down Grimm's face, shackles slipped around his wrists.
"Off to the Cove with this traitor, and let us forget this man forever...goodbye General." These were the last words Grimm heard before being shoved into a dark car, and driven off to the coast of Arkadia. Grimm was going to the Devil's Cove.
