Aura stared at the mansion set before him, and gasped in spite of himself. Of course Aura was used to large houses that contained numerous artifacts and treasures, but this was different from all the jobs before. This was the house of an Arkadian general, someone who could send you into the abyss without a second glance. As Aura gasped he heard a laugh coming from his traveling companion and fellow thief.
"Come on Aura, we don't have enough time for you to be standing around and gawking at the damn thing." said Reise.
Reise was Aura's best friend, close enough that he considered him family. That of course was completely hypothetical. Aura's family had been killed years ago, marked down in the civilian death toll as Arkadia was seizing power. Aura had long since excepted that his family was gone, and he prided himself as a sort of Robin Hood - steal from the rich and give to the poor. As Reise took out his large gun, his Raddler, Aura prepared himself for the job. Getting the cue from Reise Aura sprang forward, jumping through a window and into the mansion. With no one there to greet him he gave Reise a thumb's up, and together they made there way through the house searching for treasure.

General Barton Grimm, the famed General in the Arkadian army stood before the judges of the world - not pleading with them, but gaining there strength. He knew what was going to happen, his dreams had let him know his days in Ordalio were numbered. The Directorate had decided long ago to make him there enemy, and them his. Grimm was tense as coiled metal as the shouts came from outside the door.
"General Grimm let us in, we have a warrant for your arrest."
Indeed they did, and Grimm was needed far to much now to be sent to the Devil's Cove, a prison for the most daring and notorious criminals in Arkadia. Grimm bolted towards the back door, his escape already planned. Running faster then any mortal man could, Grimm far outstripped the speed of any one of the Directorate's pet soldiers. His midnight black hair blown back by a sudden force, Grimm halted and chanced a glance upward.
It was just in time. A razor thin blade whistled through the air and collided against Grimm's own.
"It has been far to long, my old friend." said a slow, rasping voice. Grimm knew that voice, it was the voice of his dreams and nightmare.
"Indeed it has, General Core." said Grimm, his expressionless voice would turn the insides of any normal man cold. "So I see you're the Directorates new lapdog, I guess they upgraded from energy enhanced "soldiers" to the corrupt center of Arkadia."
"Ha, you give me far to much credit", Core was seconds away from unleashing all his power on the man before him, the man who has given him so much, and yet so little,"the Directorate has done well by me Grimm."
Grimm gathered all his energy to his katana, the Tenma, and was set to burst.
"It will do no good Grimm." and with that Core bounded forward, his darkened energy colliding with Grimm.
The dust cleared, Core laughed as he had one finger on Grimm's head.
"We must all be judged Grimm, you are no exception."

Anyone wondering this is my written draft of my novel/manga - The Revolutionist. The Revolutionist is consisted of Four Volumes, which I will post on boards ASAP. The novel is about a post-war world that is being controlled by the Empire of Arkadia. Arkadia itself is corrupt and there are far more sinister forces at work. I don't want to give anything anyway yet, so keep reading in Chapter 2 of Part 1 to find out what happens next. This was not the complete first chapter, as it is about 30 pages long, but i decided to condense it. Thank You!

Aura was searching every room in the immense house that he was to be found in. Reise on the next floor was communicating to him with an old head-set they had stolen from an Arkadian caravan. As Aura searched on, he found himself standing in front of an old mirror. It had been a long time since Aura had gotten a proper look at himself, and he found that he was startled by his new appearance. Aura stood almost six feet tall, with long brown hair and dark green eyes. In a way he looked like most of the citizens in the Arkadian Empire, and yet he looked completely alien as well. Aura smiled to himself, a trait he always seemed to carry was his cheerfulness.
"If you dwell on all the sad things in life, you'll miss all the good things." Reise had once told him. Aura had taken these words to heart. Barely a second passed where Aura was not smiling or laughing. Reise never minded Aura's jolly nature, in fact he seemed to condone it. Reise had become the brother Aura had always wanted. Aura remembered the days when his parents were gone, and he was forced to dig through the trash to get a meal. Aura was hopeless for so long, but then Reise came. Reise was the picture that Aura had always wanted to be a part of, and yet was never able to obtain. Reise found Aura digging through a dumpster and took pity on him, it was there Reise asked him if he wanted to abandon the life he had known in the city of Corporus, and start a new life with him. Aura never forgot the scene of that moment: the snow falling on Reise's blonde hair, the light shining into his clear blue eyes, and the way he seemed to destroy all the shadows surrounding Aura. The years had come quickly after that moment, and Reise had come to mean something to Aura that he himself could not explain.
"Aura meet in the top floor, we have a probelm." said Reise's voice through the head-set.
Aura wasted no time, running as fast as he could. Within minutes he was on the top floor with Reise.
"Aura, Arkadian forces are coming here today. Unfortunately the General has decided to cut his vacation a bit short and return home to his treasures. Greedy Arkadian bastard couldn't stand to be away from them for a week." said Reise as he simultaneously took the Raddler from it's holster.
"But Reise, shouldn't we go then?" asked Aura, his voice always curiously thick with emotion. "I mean if there coming now."
"Yes obviously but we had-" Reise was cut short as the sound of leather boots against hard cement came towards them.
"Damn there here, Aura hurry let's get downstairs and out of here before they release we were even at this place." Reise said as he ran towards the door. They both sprinted down the staircase, racing against time's personnel agenda. They reached the second floor when the doors were thrown open.
"And you can tell my wife that she can meet me here, I'll send transportation myself." said a voice coming from the floor below.
"Aura back up, now." whispered Reise through clenched teeth. Aura tip-toed back up the stairs and hid inside an empty closet. Reise soon joined him, a finger to his lips telling Aura not to talk. Minutes dragged by, and soon the duo heard a shout from somewhere outside of there closet.
"Sir, there was a broken window and muddy footprints in the castle, Sir."
"What!? That's impossible, this house has state-of-the-art security, that would be ridiculous." but the General did not seem to convince himself. "Search the house, every inch of it, until you find these intruders."
Aura began to shake, was this how it would end for him? Crouched inside a closet, waiting to be found. Aura could not accept this as his destiny. Reise seemed to be thinking along the same lines, as he gave Aura the tiniest wink, and leaped from the closet - the Raddler in hand.
Gunshots echoed throughout the house, as Reise and Aura ran for the exit. It seemed that there were no exits inside the house, they ran and ran, but could not find a single escape route. Reise saw a group of soldiers and dived into the room beside him. It was a grand hall, for feasts and special occasions, a room only an Arkadian would think is needed. Even more spectacular yet, there was open door that headed out into the gardens. Reise and Aura ran faster then ever, desperate to escape. Just as Aura was out of the mansion, Reise tripped and fell - feet away from the door. Within seconds soldiers poured into the room, all of them taking aim at Reise.
"Steady now fool, who the hell do you think you are? Do you know this is an Arkadian's house?" said a soldier, practically dancing with joy at the helpless state of there captive. "Easy now vermin, you'll be taking a nice, long trip to the Devil's Cove." said another soldier.
Aura was seconds away from diving into the room, willing to sacrifice himself to save Reise. Yet as Reise stood, he smiled a fool's smile at Aura, loaded a grenade into one of the slots on the Raddler, and turned to face the soldiers.
"Listen up vermin, drop the weapon and put your hands on your head - and maybe we won't turn you into a human pincushion." snarled another soldier. But Reise just smiled, and with one last look at Aura fired the grenade towards the soldiers. The soldiers open-fired as the grenade landed in there midst, unnoticed and unrecognized. Reise fell backwards, and Aura ran inside to catch him. As Reise landed in the hands of Aura, the grenade exploded sending the majority of the soldiers into the walls and ceiling. Aura began to cry in ernest, then felt a dull thud against the back of his head and faded into black, the Raddler in his hands.

Grimm was thrown back as pure energy was rushed into his body, paralyzing him and chilling his very bones. Core smiled, pleased he had Grimm in such a hopeless position.
"Don't you see now Grimm, Arkadia is a weak pillar, standing in the way of the strong. If you could only hear Kayyn talk about the new Arkadia, maybe you would not find our cause so unappealing." Core stated, a sadistic smile danced upon his lips. Grimm was done, his life over. He knew what would happen. As Core raised his sword to strike the final blow, a new voice emerged.
"General Core, step away from Grimm. He is now under the custody of the King's personnal guard. We will escort him to the Cove." A soldier in the king's guard stated. They were scared, but firm and determined.
Core looked at Grimm with a sick longing, contemplating the consequences of what would happen.
"Of course Captain, I was only trying to stop the traitor from escaping. He is yours now." said Core, playing a fake smile, and with that he stepped away from the dsigraced ex-General. In a whisper Grimm heard his voice echoing the words of his dreams "Your time is done Grimm, Arkadia cannot win this war."
Core was right, and Grimm knew it. As tears slide down Grimm's face, shackles slipped around his wrists.
"Off to the Cove with this traitor, and let us forget this man forever...goodbye General." These were the last words Grimm heard before being shoved into a dark car, and driven off to the coast of Arkadia. Grimm was going to the Devil's Cove.

Aura woke with a start as he was rumbled back and worth by some unknown force. He felt cold metal wrapped around his wrists, and looked up to see shackles tying him to the roof. As Aura looked forward, a smiling man with missing teeth was staring back at him.
"'Bout time you done woke up boy, you done been a sleep for nearly half the trip." said the man.
"Half of what trip, where am I?" asked Aura, and then he remembered. Reise was dead, and he must have been captured by Arkadia. Aura shut his eyes to stop tears from pouring down his face.
"Remembered have ya? You're on your way to the Cove boy, Gods know what a little boy like you could've done. What did ya do boy?" asked the man, speaking faster all the while. "By the way, my name is Billy, call me Bill, or Billy don't matter here."
"Ok, Bill, what is "the Cove", and do you anything about the weapon I had when I was captured?" asked Aura, trying to smile bleakly. Aura knew Reise would never promote crying, especially over him.
"Well about your weapon, wouldn't know nothing 'bout that, but it prolly went up to the armory. That's were they keep all the weapons. The Cove, sure ya heard of it, the baddest prison ever built in the Arkadian Empire. They send all the hardest criminals there, and not just your average murderers and thieves, but your most dangerous killers, burglars, and rapists. Ain't no good soul in the Cove." finished Billy dramatically. "Which brings me back to my original point, what did a little pup like you do to get sent to the damned Cove?"
Aura smiled, and shook his head. He had no intention of telling a stranger any of his business. Aura was always like that, living his life on the run. He never stopped to make connections, only with Reise had he ever felt a sense of closeness. Aura never knew anything but his life with Reise. As depression threatened to consume him, he shook his head. Aura wanted to know where he was, and what would happen to him. Looking around he didn't see anything but other prisoners, around 15-20. As he was looking about he noticed someone very odd. A man with his closed, and dark black hair that fell over his face. He had pale skin and a complexation that seemed to emit energy. Aura continued to stare at the man, wondering who he was. Suddenly the man opened his eyes, and they locked directly onto Aura. The man's eyes were red, but a bright red that shone with power. This was a man used to having control, used to having power. Aura stared back at him, unable to turn his eyes away.
"Ahh, looks like were there puppy, should be unloading us any time now." said Billy, who seemed to be completely calm with what was happening to him. "By the way pup, what;s your name?"
"Aura, Aura Vallan - of Corporus." said Aura, finally turning to face Bill. "Well at least I was born in Corporus, but I've never stayed in one place long enough to call it home."
Bill nodded and turned to the door, where a row of Arkadian soldiers entered what Aura know realized was a cargo ship.
"Listen here swine, you will now reap the rewards of what your deeds have given you. The Devil's Cove is what awaits you now, I hope your all happy with this lot, because your to die here." and with that Aura and the rest of the prisoners were flocked off the boat and into the prison.
The prison itself was a monstrous sight, it looked like a castle that was frozen to a cliff. Snow was falling from the sky at a rapid pace, and the temperature was below freezing. Icicles the size of people clung to the sides of the prison, and frozen ice layered the grounds around the prison. It seemed ideal for a prison, even if a prisoner was to escape he would be swallowed whole by the elements.
"The Devil's Cover, eh?" stated Aura through clenched teeth. That forced a chuckle out of Billy as they trudged forward through the snow an into the prison. As Aura stepped inside he was given a room number and shoved forward through the crowd. As Aura finally managed to find his room he saw the man from the boat sitting inside it. His bright red eyes seemed to drill through Aura.
Shakily Aura raised his hand, and said "Erm, hello my name is Aura, I guess were sharing this cell."
At this the man shook his head and laughed. It wasn't a humorous laugh, but a cold emotionless laugh. "No need to be so polite, Aura, this is prison after all. You can call me Grimm, Grimm of Arkadia."
