#1 Chapter One I guess. The sun shone upon Blake's blue eyes as he caught a glimpse of the bright sun though his window. He toppled over the side of his bed when the sun caught his eyes. He held his eyes shut from the sudden blinding pain and reminded himself that he needed to get shutters to stop that happened every day. He walked to the door of his musky, mostly brown room. The door creaked open as he pulled the handle and stepped through the threshold into the hallway. He heard plates and knives clanging against each other as he walked down the short hallway to his mother's sanctuary, the kitchen. She looked up at him with big loving blue eyes as his own. She hugged him embracingly. Ever since his fathers departure for the war with the elves on the eastern borders, his mother has been extra careful to keep Blake safe and healthy. The hug broke off and Blakes mother went back to cooking the deers meat that he had killed after yesterday's hunt. He had spent a week in the forest and only managed to catch a few wild that were enough to benefit his mother and himself. Blake sat himself down and was about to say good morning when his friend Nicky came in carrying a box. Nicky had blonde hair that went just past her shoulders and big green eyes. She smiled at him and turned to Blakes mother, Angela.. Angela thanked her niece(might aswell be) for the present that Blake did not know of. He tried to ask what it was but was muzzled into the back ground of 'thank you' s and 'your welcome's. "You didn't really have to go through all that trouble, dear." Blakes mother said thankfully. "It was nothing really" Nicky said with a quick reply, eager to get talking with her only friend. She sat down next to Blake quit close so that Angela could not hear them. Blake had become quit fond of Nicky. Even though he considered her a sister-figure, she had this charm that Blake could not get past. She moved her mouth close to Blake's ear. "Did you do it yet?" Nicky asked cautiously, making sure that Angela could not eavesdrop. "Yup," Blake whispered, looking back at his mother making sure she definately wasn't listening in, "It wasn't that hard either. Jayden was not that hard to get past. His dogs were the most trouble. Good thing I caught that eatra fawn to take care of them." "So we do it at midnight right?" "I'll try not to fall asleep." And with that Nicky departed after kissing Angela on the cheek and blessed her a safe day. Blake spent most of his day tending to the little gardens that he and his mother had been working on for several months. The tomatoes were no more just a stem, little red small balls were showing up here and there. The sun seemed hotter on this day, hotter than usual. It was almost unbearable. If Blake did not have to tend to the gardens, he would have stayed inside. After plucking a few herbs out of the ground he looked up and saw out to the sea and the village that was nearby. His father had built the house further away from the sea and the villagers. He had mentioned something about the 'epic tidal wave that will come to destroy us for being friends with the elves and letting them come to our land, letting them invade kill and pillage our villages.' After being told such things from his father, he could not possible believe the praises the elders give to the elves. Saying how they are a noble race and we invaded them. Blake had been brought to such a rage from these words that he had threatened a man twice his size for saying that the men fighting on the borders were fools. He was disgusted from these words, knowing that his father and other brave men were protecting this land. Blake walked back into the comfort of the shade in his house and put the basket of herbs down on the table with a silent thud. He walked to his room and decided to catch up on some writings his mother had set out for him. She said that a great warrior needed to be able to read and write also a wonderful swordsman. Blake sometimes chuckled at the thought that one day a warrior would need his quill and ink in the middle of a battle. The hours passed and the sun went behind the sea. He watched as it went down when it was turning orange and yellow on the horizon. Blake was afraid of when the sun would go down at night. He knew it would not be back for awhile, but he respected its time that it was gone, it needed to tend to the underworld aswell as the living. But he was frightened by the fact that his father had said such things as the elves being more powerful at night, and thats why he slept in the morning and stayed up at night, just incase the elves break through a border with their 'supernatural' powers. Blake had always wondered what these powers were. Could they summon demons? Use magic? Heh... It was absurd for him to even think of them using magic. He knew that magic was only reserved for the royal family, and only they could use the powers of the ancients. Blake fell down onto his warm bed and feel asleep waiting for Nicky. Chapter 2.
