i havent heard of the anime
is it any good?
A good probability as to why you never heard of is because despite what the lot of people here think, Avatar the last airbender is not an anime.

To be an anime you have to meet the following conditions:
1. It had to have been created in Japan.
2.It would have to at least had a sub'd version once upon a blue moon.
3. Unless it was dubbed by 4kids, there should actually be some blood.

Avatar is commonly mistake for an anime because it's not like the other trash Nickelodeon puts of t.v ig it has a story and the characters aren't completely unbarble.

As to answer your question it is indeed an good show, the creator used alot of martial arts in it's creation, the music isn't bad, and the story isn't exactly average. Downsides of it though is that it's an American show which means it'll go on hiatus for who knows how long, and you won't be able to predict when they'll air it again.
1. Anime means Animation. FAIL
2. Now this is just ridicoulous.
3. Why? It's the same without red liquid.
I'll admit no. 3 was uneccessary, and yes you're right anime does mean fail. But do you know why anime are called anime and not cartoons? "No" you say?

Then allow me too elaborate. Anime are called anime because Anime is the japanese pronouciation of the word Animation. The reason cartoon's from japan are called anime instead of cartoons is the same as why manga are called manga and not comics; titles are used to show that they're from Japan.

Avatar was made in america, yes it's a animation, yes it has a good story, yes it has good art. But to be an anime not animation it would have to be Japanese, Avatar on the other hand references China, and is Anime inspired. Do you get where I'm going, or will you start calling Spongebob an anime, too?

Yes, spongebob is Anime.

Oi this is quite annoying let me dumb it down a bit.

Yes Anime means Animation, but anime does not relate to all animation. Notice T.V shows in america, that are drawn and animated are refered to as cartoon, those that are drawn that strung together are called Comic books. Japan has the same thing, shows that are drawn then animated but they don't call them cartoons they are called anime. They also have things that are drawn and strung together but these things are called manga not comic books. In Korea there are things drawn and strung together these things are called Manwha.

Have you figured it out yet? The reason anime is called anime and manga is called manga outside of japan is to show that it originated from Japan. The same can be said and Manwha; the reason it's called manwha, instead of manga, or comic books is because it comes from Korea.

To shorten it; Anime is from Japan, Cartoonnetwork is called cartoonnetwork because animated drawings are called Cartoons in America. Just because it's animated does not make it an anime.

Instead of trying to call Avatar what it's not, why won't you just be happy that someone in America was capable of creating a show with a good story, instead of something that's blantant stupidity.

Anime (アニメ, Anime?) (pronounced [anime] listen (help·info) in Japanese, but typically pronounced /ˈænɪmeɪ/ or /ˈænɪmə/ in English) is an abbreviation of the English word "animation", originating in Japan through the roots of manga.[1][2] Although the term is used in Japan to refer to animation in general, in English usage the term most popularly refers to material originating from Japan, a subset of animation

That kind of says it all.

he's basically right. Either way, Avatar is generally treated as a 'cartoon' made by animu-lovers, and not an anime, simply because it wasn't made in Japan.

anyways, I haven't seen avatar in a while. I might catch up with it over the summer.

Oh, and interesting fact (?): The avatar has an arrow pointing to his nose, so he doesn't forget where it is
