Character Creation (Photoshop) Guide
Step 1 - Inserting Template
Download the character template (right click > save as) or just copy and paste it (right click > copy, then go to photoshop, then ctrl + c) into Adobe Photoshop (I use v7.0). Here is the character template: Reccommended Template. See Result
Step 2 - Adding Text
Now we add some text, enter in the name of the character, I recommend you to use this set: Set 1 - R Trebuchet MS, Regular, Size can vary (mine is 16 pt), Strong (you can find it here). But before that, you need to click in the letter "T" in the toolbox and right click > Horizontal Type Tool (see how). For the color, use the eyedropper tool (see how) and select the dark violet box in the template, and edit the text and change it to that color. Do the same to the other Character's skills but this time use the orange color. And for the other text, use black with the commonly used set: Trebuchet MS, Regular, Size can vary (mine is 10 pt), None. And to edit the text, go to the same text tool then click the textbox. See Result
Step 3 - Balancing and Adding Chakra
Well, balancing is basically just making your character have a normal strength and not having overpowered or underpowered skills. For my character, I added a "Locked Character" text and made his moves stronger. Use Ninja's guide here to help you. So I have done the damage, instant kill, aoe, cooldown, and now for chakra. To add chakra, just use the Marquee Tool (see how) and select the chakra required, and press Ctrl + C. Press Ctrl + V then use the move tool (see how) to move the chakra and properly arrange it in the template. Do it again and again until you are finished. See Result
Step 4 - Adding Pictures
Adding pictures are important. Go to the Picture Websites and find some pictures of your character and moves. Copy the picture then paste it on a new document. Crop the picture in square of what you want to show by holding shift while dragging(see how). Right click on the title of the name > Image Size... > then adjust it to 75x75 for the character's picture, and 73x73 for the moves (see how). Then drag the picture to your work using the move tool then place it on the move. You will get something like this. Then do this again to the other pictures and you are actually done. See Result
Step 5 - Saving and Uploading
Press ctrl + s then enter the name of your outwork. If possible make it into PNG format. The best format in the world. Then upload it in a website (look at Uploading websites). Then you are done. Let's See the output: Look
Tips
1. Always save your filework in PNG format.
2. Some things might not work if you use another photo editing program or a different version of Adobe Photoshop
3. Use my other guide here. All of the steps need this to improve your character.
4. Try inserting in a logo of your username to prevent art theft. Add in some big text, like what I always do. Like this
Frequently Asked Questions
How do you get the templates at first? - zazuba
I made it and edited at some parts. I also got them by pressing Prt scrn in Naruto-Arena, and erased all text. I also added the chakra boxes. To make the long story short, I made it.
I placed my Charactar/Mission in photobucket, then what do I have to do? - giugiulin
It's actually upto you but you can just save it in your computer, for a collection or so. You can also get the link of the picture (the way for others to see your output), copy and paste it in this forum then you could show off or let others rate your creation. -Simply create a topic and enter the url in the body for them to see it - which is the simplest way.
How do you download photoshop and is it free? - CHRIS7698
I think it is not free. Though I also heard you can download it (or a demo) for free. Try searching in Yahoo! or Google "free adobe photoshop demo version" or something like that to get one. I am not sure how I got one but I remembered that we had a virus, and we called our operator, he refreshed it or fixed it then the time I tested it, it had Adobe Photoshop v7.0. I f you are hopeless, use MS Paint or other free editing programs.
Are there any ways or websites were i can download Photoshop for free? - startpagestart
See the answer above. They are similar.
Can somebody tell me where i can find attacks for me to make a character? - stephan
Yes. Me. Search this (my) topic and look for the "Information Websites"corner.
Probably asking: How do you use the chakra in the template, I followed everything and it says something like "Cannot move the selction because the selceted area is empty"? - zoltan123
You made a mistake. Please read this line again: "To add chakra, just use the Marquee Tool and select the chakra required, and press Ctrl + C. Press Ctrl + V then use the move tool to move the chakra and properly arrange it in the template. Do it again and again until you are finished." You probably made a new layer and selected using the Marquee Tool, so it will say the selected area is empty because you selected a "transparent area" on a different layer which would make it look as if you are working in the template. Be sure to click the template. To be able to proceed, be sure that you are working ON the layer of the template, not on a different one (the new layer or something else).
For the character templates, whenever I try to save it, it doesn't show any type of file. Why? - lee78
Maybe a virus or something. You are saving the template right? Then just right click>save picture as>File Name: 2.png. Enter the ".png" to the filename to save it as PNG format. Just try it.
How do I download these character and mission templates? - kyolimbo
Click the link>*The picture should appear*>rightclick>*A pop-up should appear*>Click save picture as/save as or something like that in the pop-up>*A new pop-up will be replaced*>Select the location to save it, enter the name, and format>Click save/enter. Saving it to the Computer is the same as downloading it.
What does the R stands for? - ashashi
Recommended - something that I commonly use or suggest for everyone to use. Or I just mark it because of its usefulness. Choosing the ones with the "R" in bold is better.
Why would you put sole ones for Yu Yu Hakusho? What about Yu-Gi-Oh! and Bleach? - suchi1832
Sorry for that. I should actually placed ones for Naruto only (to be fair), but I also made more Yu Yu Hakusho characters, so I would like to share them too. I do not watch/like/make other characters from other Anime so I don't care.
How do I post my characters in the forum? - Dragons5
Upload it in a website (check my guide), get/copy the link of your characters, create a topic in the forum, then paste the link in the topic - that is the simplest way.
Are there any other Photo Editing Programs I can use, other than Photoshop? - Nooblsice
GIMP is said to be 2nd after Photoshop. I believe it is downloadable and free, though I have no experience in it. MS Paint is also another thing for your MS Windows Desktop. Paint.net was also mentioned. Though using Powerpoint for the pics is good. Just transfer the pics to the template in MS Paint.
