Unfortunately, they appear to be mentally unstable and violent, which when coupled with their special "hands" creates a fear of them by normal humans. One particularly strong Diclonius named Lucy escapes the prison in which they are held after killing many guards, but her personanlity got split into herself, and an ignorant self that can only say "nyu". She meets up with a kind pair, Kouta and Yuka, who take her in and try to teach her how to live properly. Read online: OneManga This manga is just wow. So many limbs and heads chopping. Art gets better after a while. I recomend it to everyone that is sane enough to endure the crazyness that is Lucy.

Very bloody, lots of chicks. wrong. there r 13+1 special also known as episode 10.5 and it explains some stuff. i watched all the episodes and am reading the manga. i like the anime better eventhough i miss nozomi (or whatever her name is) and the manga is more perverted. personaly my favourite character is nana.

#11 well the difference between the manga and the anime is huge. the manga is more complicated, has more characters, shows sexual abuse and everything... and the biggest difference is that when the anime finishes the story the manga still has 50+ chapters to go. seems like the author ran out of money. but yeah i feel sorry for nana. she's so positive and would never harm a human while mariko is a even bigger sadist then lucy and a total psycho bitch.

#12 Yeah, so many crazy chicks. I almost freaked out when I though Lucy killed Mayu, and it turned out it was Bandou. So shocking. And now, Nyuu is captured. I wouldn't be surprised to see her destroying everything around her once Lucy is back. She was freaky with her huge horns.

#13 yup. but at least lucy is kinda good now (in the anime she already has control over her killing instincs after like 8 episodes (she almost kills mayu but doesn't).
