I’m pretty sure most of you have encountered the MSN virus, one time or another. Apparently, it’s getting very contagious. There are different forms of the MSN virus, otherwise, all alike. By one of your contacts (probably one who’s already been infected with the virus), they will send you a .zip file containing pictures. If you did accept it, you will receive a .zip file named “image-337” or something like that. From there, the same (or very similar) virus will spread to the contacts you are currently talking to.

If you accepted this virus, despite what others say, you are not stupid or dumb. This virus is getting trickier every time MSN designs them (yes, they design these viruses on purpose for monetary needs). I happened to get mine from a friend who said she constantly wanted to get a new house with a view and a pool. Coincidentally, I got a virus that sent me the pics with a message, saying she got a new house with a view and a pool. I doubt with all my heart the virus is created out of data it leeches from your conversations with people.

However, this virus is not all that smart. If you are sent the virus (even without you knowing), every single time, the message is sent with the Arial font, colored black. That should be one thing you must be eagle-eyed about. Another thing is, the virus doesn’t type in all caps, scant (noob talk), or perfectly either. If you have a contact who either constantly types in caps (ex. I JUST GOT ITACHI HE OWNS SO HARD), perfectly (ex. I just unlocked Itachi. He owns so hard.), in scant (I jst got itahci he ownz so hard lolololol), note that. The virus will not speak to you in one of those forms. Make a note of it. To simply get rid of it, hit “Decline”, or just ignore the virus.

Anyways, to the point. If you have the virus, this is what you need to do to get rid of it (if you don’t feel like waiting 3-4 days, according to what Draco says).

1. Click on the Start button on your taskbar.
2. On the Start menu, click on Run.
2a. For those of you who don’t have the Run feature on your Start menu, follow this. Right-click, and press Properties.
2b. Click Customize under the Start Menu pane.
2c. When the “Customize Start Menu” window is up, click the Advanced pane.
2d. Under the “Start Menu Items”, scroll down, until you see “Run Command.” Check the box to enable the Run feature. Press OK to continue.
3. Start the Run feature. Type in “msconfig”, without the quotes. Click OK. (If nothing comes up at first, keep doing this step.)
4. A menu called “System Configuration Utility” should come up. Click the Startup pane.
5. Scroll down the list until you see something called “MSNMsngr”. If you come across two of the same thing, uncheck the one that is either in all lower-case, or has the virus name on the right side. If none of those two descriptions match, then uncheck the one that looks suspicious to you. Uncheck the box. Click OK to proceed.
6. When asked to restart your computer, do so. If you don’t want to right away, close/save any important things you might be working on (ex. Word document for school, GFXing needs, a game, etc.). Then restart manually.
7. After booting up and loading back into your account, immediately go to My Documents, My Received Files, and then locate the virus name. Delete it immediately. The address to the folder should be something like this: C:/My Documents/Messenger Received Files, or something like that.

After following all these steps, the virus shouldn’t come back. If you have any more problems, feel free to contact those you know about this virus and how to stop it. If the virus persists, get your parents (if you’re still a teenager and under) to help you with this.

The virus will not fuck up your files. Rather, it just spams you with REALLY annoying messages. Basically, it's pretty much just a bunch of pop-ups. But this virus is very immense, and doesn't stop.

Excellent, but I think there is a MUCH easier way.

Impfix
1. Download Impfix.
2. Do what it says, (It was very easy, I had never tried it before)
3. Then Restart your computer.

It got rid of my virus in a couple seconds. It was EXTREMELY easy.

Or you can send the virus file to a compressed folder, delete it, then delete it from your recycle bin, then restart.
